Artist Shows a Walking Robot Navigating a Gaussian Splat Environment

Real-Time VFX Artist RubenFro showcased a creative experiment with procedural locomotion on a Gaussian Splat environment from World Labs, a spatial intelligence company.
Working in Unity and drawing inspiration from Death Stranding, the artist built a multi-legged robot that intelligently places its feet based on the surrounding environment, without using any traditional 3D collision setup.
RubenFro provided a more detailed explanation, clarifying that the setup features a gait simulation component that chooses which leg to move, looks for a suitable spot to step in the direction it's heading, and even judges how solid the ground appears before placing a foot.
