Artist Shows How Camera & Talent Turn Hilarious 3D Movement into Epic 2D-Like Action

Pierrick Picaut shares a look at how he created his mannequin animation.

Camera work and high skills are everything, Pierrick Picaut has proven in his behind-the-scenes shot of one of the mannequins from his entry to the Suzanne Awards Film Festival at the Blender Conference.

Picaut demonstrates how the 2D-like action short was made, and the revelation is enlightening: for the sequence where the mannequin shows off its strength, he used a static camera and yanked the model around for a bit. Who knew such a pompous shot was so hilarious inside Blender?

The artist has begun a series of "How It Looks VS How It's Made" posts on X/Twitter, so be sure to check it out.
