Artist Unveils an Astonishing "Funky Pencil" Animation Made in Blender

Just a normal pencil, nothing to see here.

Tomasz Woźniakowski, a Visual Artist and the same creative mind who earlier blessed the 3D world by visualizing a rolling ball of pigeon heads, has once again blown everyone away – 40K upvotes on r/Blender in one day is no small feat – with a sequence less bizarre, yet just as mesmerizing.

Leveraging Blender and Shape Keys, a toolset that lets one deform objects into new shapes for animation, the artist imagined what he described as a "funky pencil," teaching the OG artistic tool to move, dance, and metamorphose in ways that many viewers compared to the old-school animations of Cyriak. According to Tomasz, the sequence took around a week to create, involving hundreds of shape keys and a few basic modifiers, primarily Simple Deform, with no rigs.

We highly encourage you to visit Tomasz's YouTube and Instagram pages to see more of his splendid artworks.
