A beautiful project by Louis-Alexandre Louchard and Dominique Gagné.
Baldur's Gate 3 is the first and last game in the series from Larian, unfortunately, but it doesn't stop players from imagining what the next game would be like.
Talented artists Louis-Alexandre Louchard and Dominique Gagné have presented their vision of what the character creator in Baldur's Gate 4 could look like.
Louchard was responsible for the environment, demonstrating a beautiful ruined church, while Gagné showed the different sliders and options he wanted to see in this "fresher look."
"We wanted to create our version of what could be the Baldur's Gate 4 character creator's menu," Louchard shared. "We both are gamers who can spend hours customizing our character before the big adventure, explaining our motivation to do this project based on one of our favorite licenses!
"This project was also an opportunity for me to go through a different artistic workflow than my other projects, since the artistic choices and direction needed to be justified to enhance the menu and not take the spot instead of the character itself."
The modular parts were created using Blender, ZBrush, and Substance 3D Painter, as well as Quixel Megascans and Gaea.
If you want to know how Louchard makes his scenes, read our interview with the artist, where he talked about how a cozy peaceful rural environment inspired by Elden Ring's Windmill Village was set with Unreal Engine 5's PCG, Nanite, and Lumen.
The character was modeled and textured by Gagné with ZBrush and Substance 3D Painter. "I rigged and skinned it with Maya. I created the hair groom with XGen. Within Unreal Engine 5, I created many blueprints and materials in order to create the gameplay level and UI."
