Sunny Suljic, the voice actor for Atreus, has shared that he is weary of the child character constantly revealing all the puzzle solutions.
Players started discussing the issue of frequent hints in God of War Ragnarök as soon as the game was released in November 2022. Many expressed dissatisfaction with the game's tendency to hold their hand throughout the gameplay, leaving little room for mistakes or exploration.
During the recent BAFTA Games Awards, Sunny Suljic, known for his role as Atreus in the last two God of War installments, was asked about his thoughts on the game's hand-holding. The actor revealed that he sometimes grew tired of the constant hints, especially since he often heard his own voice offering advice while solving puzzles.
"I’m trying to do the puzzles, and then I hear myself giving myself the hints and I just... I get so sick of hearing my own voice sometimes," Suljic told IGN.
Suljic was nominated for Best Lead Actor at the BAFTA Games Awards 2023 for his role in God of War Ragnarök, but ultimately lost to his co-star Christopher Judge, who portrayed Kratos. Meanwhile, Laya Deleon Hayes received the award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Angrboða.
