Autodesk Makes Flow Studio Subscriptions More Affordable

Great news for fans of the AI animation tool.

We don't often see software prices dropping (usually, it's the other way around), but Autodesk slashed expectations together with its price for Flow Studio, previously Wonder Studio, an AI tool that can automatically animate, light, and compose a 3D character model into a live-action scene.

It is now more affordable than ever, with a Free subscription tier, available with limitations and a watermark, and lower prices for the Lite and Pro subscriptions. Moreover, there is now a Standard option between the two.

Lite and Pro are now $10 and $95 per month, respectively, instead of $19.99 and $99.99, while Standard is $45/month for 6,000 credits.

What's more, Pro subscriptions are now available as part of Autodesk's Media and Entertainment Collection, which also includes Maya, 3ds Max, Arnold, Golaem, Mudbox, MotionBuilder, ReCap Pro, Character Generator access, and Autodesk Rendering.

These price cuts, however, come with some drawbacks: you can't export character passes, PNG image sequences, or USD scenes in Lite anymore, and the Wonder Tools are no longer available, making it impossible to use camera tracking and remove actors from footage. The credits have also been reduced from 3,000/month to 2,100/month.

The Free tier is heavily limited, as mentioned before, but can still be used to test the poser of the software. With 300 credits per month, you can create 15 seconds of Live Action or 30 seconds of AI MoCap, although you will have to be happy with a 720p resolution and 1 GB of storage. Still, it's a great way to sample Flow Studio and see if you enjoy it.

Autodesk

Wonder Dynamics released Flow Studio in 2023 as Wonder Studio, aiming to help artists create outstanding animations with just a camera, and Autodesk acquired the company barely a year later.

Now, Flow Studio is "part of the Autodesk ecosystem," so you will need to renew your subscription through Autodesk’s product website.
