Baldur’s Gate 3 Dev Will Get Back to Divinity Original Sin Eventually

Larian Studios first needs a well-deserved break though.

Larian CEO Sven Vincke has recently mentioned that he knows what his studio will be working on after Baldur's Gate 3. In fact, part of the team is already busy with their next big thing. The manager said they're not willing to share anything yet though.

When it comes to well-known universes, Vincke confirmed that Larian will eventually return to Divinity: Original Sin and make a sequel in the universe. The manager didn't clarify whether its the next game after Baldur's Gate 3.

"It's our own universe we built, so we're definitely gonna get back there at some point," Vincke noted. "We will get back there at some point. We'll first finish this one [Baldur's Gate 3] now, and then take a break, because we will need to refresh ourselves creatively also. You’re seeing 400 developers putting their heart and souls into this. You’re getting the best of them and their craft into this game. And so I can tell you, it's quite a thing."

In another story, Vincke shared the team was working on not one, but two spin-offs of Divinity: Original Sin 2. The first one, titled Fallen Heroes, was announced but later put on hold, and eventually canceled. The second spin-off was never announced, despite its development progressing quite far before being canceled.

Vincke mentioned that the second Original Sin 2 spin-off was a game with a different story and mechanics. He did not share details on specific mechanics because Larian plans to revisit them in the future.

Earlier today, we reported that Larian Studios has unveiled a detailed world map that reveals Baldur's Gate 3's exact arrival time across different regions. Learn more about release times here
