If you have always wanted to finally get the hang of Blender but felt overwhelmed by the onslaught of UX elements and features the software throws your way the second you see this sneering 3D hexahedron, then we've got a game just for you.
Check out Blender Start Here, an upcoming simulator game developed by Dave Mills and published by XRIO that gamifies the process of learning the software's basics, best described as the ultimate beginner tutorial that rivals Andrew Price's iconic guides in terms of user-friendliness.
Aiming to teach through play and storytelling, the game uses fun mini-games and puzzles to familiarize you with complex Blender actions. You'll learn about navigation, the Move, Rotate, and Scale components, camera rendering, Object and Edit modes, and more by assisting Suzanne and battling the default cube.
Additionally, the developers have teamed up with some of the top Blender mentors and creators to include in their collectible Creator Cards, found throughout the game. These cards showcase these artists' works and will help you decide where to continue your Blender journey after playing.
If you would like to try out the game yourself, you can visit Blender Start here's official Steam page and play the free demo version there. You can also support its development via Kickstarter and learn more about the development process behind the game on Twitter.
