For the first time since the release of Battlefield 2042, its Steam concurrent player count fell below 1000 people. The game's attracting fewer people than 2016's Battlefield 1 and 2018's Battlefield V.
New data on SteamCharts show that the concurrent player count for DICE's Battlefield 2042 dropped below 1000 for the first time since the release of the online shooter in November 2021. On April 11, the figure fell to 979 users, and currently, this number accounts for just 951 people.
According to SteamCharts, over the past 30 days, the game had an average player count of 1,926 and its daily peek is currently 1,731 people. In comparison, the maximum daily online player count in Battlefield 1 in April is about 7 thousand players, and in Battlefield V it is about 18 thousand.
On average, about 2 thousand users played Battlefield 2042 in March 2022. This figure is a thousand less than February's results when an average of 3 thousand people were playing the game. At the release of the title on Steam, the game had more than 51 thousand online users.

Battlefield 2042 was launched on November 19, 2021, on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The shooter received mixed reviews from critics as well as was negatively received by users. The game was included in the top ten worst releases on Steam according to gamers' reviews.
Electronic Arts, the publisher of the game, acknowledged the general disappointment felt by many players attributing the underperformance of the game to the early launch of Halo Infinite as well as pandemics – in February EA CEO Andrew Wilson blamed such factors as "our teams working from home for nearly two years" and "unanticipated performance issues".
