It even helped Steam itself reach its all-time concurrent user record.
Representing perhaps the biggest "return to glory" story the gaming industry has seen in a while, Battlefield Studios and EA's Battlefield 6 has launched to the strongest start in the franchise's history, with its massive playerbase pushing the new entry into Steam's Top 20 most-played games of all time and even helping the platform itself break a record of its own.

Over its first weekend since release, Battlefield 6 reached an astonishing 747,440 concurrent players on Steam at its peak, nearly seven times higher than Battlefield V's 116K and Battlefield 2042's 107K. In addition to becoming the best-performing installment in the franchise, BF6 also secured a spot among Steam's Top 20 most-played games of all time, ranking 14th and outperforming heavy-hitters like Marvel Rivals, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Path of Exile 2.
As if that weren't enough, the game also helped Steam itself break its own record for concurrent users, which now stands at 41,666,455 players.
When it comes to player reviews, Battlefield 6 also performed exceptionally well, surpassing the two previous installments in the franchise and earning a solid 8.1 user score on Metacritic compared to Battlefield V's 3.6 and Battlefield 2042's 2.4. On Steam, the game holds an 82% Very Positive rating, with gamers praising BF6 for its gameplay, optimization, graphics, and, in their words, "finally listening to their playerbase" and making "Battlefield feel like Battlefield again."
