Croak's art and animation have been presented by artists who have worked on Cuphead and the Rick & Morty show.
When a game gathers interesting buffs, including platforming that requires precise control, an innovative mechanic that needs your wits and strategic thinking to pass the various levels, hand-crafted environments with rich biomes and unique gameplay, an encounter with a group of quirky, lovable characters in a fairy tale, it would just brighten your eyes.
This is Croak, an upcoming platformer created by WoodRunner Games, whose art has been presented by some of the talents from Cuphead and the Rick & Morty show.
The title indicates the protagonist of the game, a frog turned by a prince of a kingdom. As he sets out on a journey to find out the reason why the kingdom has been cursed, and to finally lift the curse, he will need to take advantage of the unique SuperBonk ability, which “allows him to use his tongue as a grapple to propel and bounce around levels.”
Through the journey, you’ll traverse a wide range of environments, including swamps, haunted mines, and snowy mountain ranges; each has its own gameplay twist. While focusing on combats with enemies and bosses, you might also have some unexpected findings, like unlocking secret mysterious areas and gathering some collectibles.
