The software's upcoming version will let you create your own node-based tools.
The Blender Foundation's Jacques Lucke has announced that the functionality to create your own node-based tools, previously only available in experimental builds, has now been integrated into the main branch and is now set to become available with Blender 4.0, an upcoming update to the open-source 3D software, scheduled to release in late November.
Currently available in Beta, Blender 4.0 will give users the ability to set up custom operators using the software's Geometry Nodes toolset, facilitating the creation of node-based tools. As stated by Jacques, these node-based tools will initially be accessible through a new menu designed for unassigned operators. However, as these tools become established assets, users will also have the option to incorporate them into existing menus. Moreover, it is also possible for the user to customize the setup and choose which object types and modes the tool should be available in.

Previously, the team also provided an update on Blender's Animation 2025 Initiative, revealing the roadmap for the initiative and stating that Animation 2025's new functionality will be gradually introduced throughout the Blender 4.x release cycle, with the possibility that it may be initially available as an experimental feature in Blender 4.0.
Furthermore, the team disclosed that Blender 5.0, due in 2025, will include an automatic conversion process to migrate old-style animation data to the new system. Consequently, the old animation system will be completely removed from the UI in Blender 5.0.
