Blender 5.2 Alpha's Cloth Tearing Simulation Test
You'll need to enable the experimental features if you want to try it out yourself.
Blender 5.2 LTS is still in alpha and will remain so until June 3, but artist showcases on social media are already giving us a glimpse of what's coming. Among the most interesting developments is the cloth solver, which appears to be receiving improvements that enable realistic ripped and torn fabric simulations.
Here's a showcase from Jesse Miettinen, whose new suite of Blender tools, focused on destruction effects, is expected to be released later this month, in case you missed it:
If you'd like to try it yourself, here's another demo from Bradley Animation, with free example files available for download. Please keep in mind that these features are still in development, they were only recently added, and aren't polished and production-ready.
