Blender-Powered Camera Culling System With Project Zomboid Vibes

Learn how to recreate it with knty's tutorial.

Frustum culling is a key graphics optimization technique that improves rendering performance by processing and rendering only the objects within the camera's field of view, defined by its frustum while excluding those outside this view from the rendering pipeline. This has long been a popular approach in nearly every game due to its simplicity and efficiency, including pre-rendered game cutscenes from the '90s.

Blender Artist knty showcased this culling system that selectively displays low-poly trees to the player, created using Blender and Geometry Nodes, along with releasing a video tutorial on how to make a similar demo. Alternatively, you can get the file on knty's Patreon.
