It's amusing how the vibe changes with temporary textures and a clear sky.
For today's Blocktober 2024 entry, an annual online event where artists show their early level designs, take a look at one of the upcoming levels in Forever Skies, a first-person post-apocalyptic survival game developed by Far From Home.
It's really fascinating how different the game feels with this backstage glimpse, showing simple blocks and lacking atmosphere, emphasizing the significance of effective level design and environment art. Previously, we showcased what Apex Legends had on its maps when they were full of blocky shapes instead of points of interest and a behind-the-scenes look at Cyberpunk 2077's gig called The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman:
A couple of years ago, we had the chance to talk with Far From Home's Mateusz Majda and Tomasz Borowiecki, who discussed the development process behind Forever Skies, told us about the world they are trying to build, and explained the idea behind the game.
Since then, a lot has changed: Forever Skies is now available on Steam with Very Positive reviews, and a new combat update packed with rich content was released just last month. The Forever Skies team is made up of developers who have contributed to several acclaimed projects, including the Dying Light and Divinity: Original Sin series, League of Legends, and many more.
Forever Skies is an action-survival game set on Earth, devastated by a global ecological disaster that left the surface covered in a massive layer of toxic dust. Returning hundreds of years later, you explore the remnants of civilization, delve into the secrets of the past, scavenge for resources to survive while facing the dangers that lurk on the surface, and customize your high-tech airship base.
