Bowser Leaves Nintendo

Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser has announced his retirement, passing the reins to Devon Pritchard.

After a decade at Nintendo of America, including six years as its President and Chief Operating Officer, the executive with without a doubt the most fitting last name, Doug Bowser, has announced he will be stepping down and leaving the company effective December 31, 2025.

Nintendo

Taking the reins is Devon Pritchard, a Nintendo of America veteran who has served as Executive Vice President of Revenue, Marketing, and Consumer Experience for nearly 20 years. In addition to becoming President, she will also join the NOA Board of Directors and become an NCL Executive Officer.

Additionally, Satoru Shibata will be joining Nintendo of America as Chief Executive Officer, while continuing his roles as Managing Executive Officer and Corporate Director at Nintendo.

Unfortunately, the most obvious question in a situation like that – whether the executive retired voluntarily or was ousted for reasons known only to Nintendo's higher-ups – has not been answered. However, with Nintendo's stock hitting its highest under Bowser at the helm of NOA and the official announcement emphasizing his role in the success of Switch 1 and Switch 2, the former appears to be far more likely.

"Leading Nintendo of America has been the honor of a lifetime, and I am proud of what our team has accomplished in both business results and the experiences we've created for consumers," Bowser commented. "Now, it's time for the next generation of leadership, and Devon's track record speaks for itself. She is an exceptional leader, and her promotion is a testament to her strong performance and strategic contributions to the company's growth. I have full confidence that she will guide the company to even greater heights."
