The whole gaming world has been eagerly anticipating GTA 6, which was said to be released in the fall of 2025. Alas, it will have to wait a little longer: Rockstar has delayed the game to May 26, 2026.
In a short letter, the studio thanked its fans for their patience and promised to share more information soon.
"With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."
Rumors about the delay have been circulating about Grand Theft Auto 6 since the release window was announced, but many hoped Rockstar would finish in time for the promised date. Moreover, Take-Two was "highly optimistic" about its pipeline.
Oh well, what's half a year more? I'm sure fans will be glad to give the studio more time to deliver a perfect experience.
Other game publishers can breathe a bit more easily now: it is believed they are ready to delay their own games just to avoid clashing with GTA 6.
Well, now you have another year to save money: the new GTA will likely cost $100. Rockstar's title is rumored to be the most expensive video game in history, so it will need the extra cash to cause "a meaningful uptick in console sales."
