Callipeg, a 2D animation app designed for frame-by-frame animation, received a bunch of free new features, including clipping masks, guide layers, stepped animation, warp transformation, shortcuts on tablets, stylus button support, and more.

The application is available on iPad and Android devices, with the Callipeg mini version released for iPhone and the Callipeg Studio for PC – Windows, macOS, and Linux. The new features are available across Callipeg and Callipeg Studio.

The brand-new features include highly anticipated Guide layers, with which you can draw perspective more easily. Newly introduced Clipping masks allow you to draw within a selected field, limited by the mask – perfect for adding shadows. A new transformation mode lets you warp your drawing, while an improved Paint Bucket allows for expanding or shrinking color zones compared to the initial contour, which might also come in handy when adding shadows.

Brushes also get a major update, with features to improve line smoothing, color mixing, texture alpha threshold, antialiasing, and more.

Callipeg's iPad version is optimized for Apple Pencil, and the Android version supports compatible styluses. The PC version, Callipeg Studio, is designed for desktop workflows with graphics tablets or integrated touchscreens.
