The cinematic game features an eerie atmosphere brought to the screens using Unreal Engine 5.
During a livestream dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima revealed a teaser trailer of his new cinematic horror game, OD, also known as Overdose.
Announced back in 2023 during The Game Awards, Overdose is being developed by the studio in collaboration with Xbox. The acting cast includes Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier, whose appearances would be translated to the game world using Unreal Engine's MetaHuman toolkit.
The new trailer, featuring highly realistic graphics, sets up a scary, ominous atmosphere from the first seconds with an insistent knock. In a dim, eerie room behind the door, the character portrayed by Sophia Lillis, shown from the first-person and then from a third-person perspective, lights a set of strange-looking candles. After that, the unsettling mood begins to intensify.

"OD is bold, it's unique, and it's unmistakably from this studio," Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, said. "We're deeply supporting the production. It's our technical work on Unreal that we're doing with the team, both with the kind of flashy what you see on the screen, but also a lot of behind-the-scenes work."
The release date remains undisclosed. Check out the first teaser trailer:
