CD Projekt To Undergo Several "Structural Changes"

As part of those changes, the company's mobile subsidiary Spokko will be merged with CD Projekt RED.

CD Projekt's Spokko, a studio in charge of developing the mobile RPG The Witcher: Monster Slayer, has revealed that in the wake of structural changes in its parent company, it will be merged with The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED.

Spokko shared the news when announcing that it's shutting down its The Witcher mobile game. The studio explained that the mobile title did not live up to CD Projekt's financial expectations, so after January 31, 2023, the game will stop receiving any updates as well as in-game purchases will become unavailable and on June 30, the game servers will be switched off and the app will stop functioning.

Speaking of what the end of The Witcher: Monster Slayer would mean for the development team, the studio revealed that following the change in CD Projekt's long-term product strategy, several "structural changes" will be carried out and the Spokko team will become a part of CD Projekt RED.

The studio noted that during the merger, some employees will be laid off but many will be given a chance to move on to projects that the RED team is working on.

CD Projekt announced its new product strategy in October revealing that its teams are currently working on a new Cyberpunk game and several The Witcher titles. Some of those projects will be developed by CD Projekt RED, while others are being created by external studios.

Shortly after the announcement, CD Projekt RED shared that it launched a new division, CD Projekt RED North America, which is comprised of the studio's existing Vancouver division and Cyberpunk 2077 core development team. It is unclear what other structural changes will be made in the company.
