CD Projekt Red has officially announced that its best-selling action-adventure game Cyberpunk 2077 will soon get a live-action adaptation, created in collaboration with True Detective and Mr. Robot producer and the studio behind The Revenant and Spotlight Anonymous Content.
As part of the collaboration, CDPR is working closely with key figures from Anonymous Content Studios, including Head of Television Garret Kemble, Director of Development Ryan Schwartz, and Chief Creative Officer David Levine. The project is currently in its early development stage and is actively searching for a screenwriter.
Similar to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the anime adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077 created by Studio Trigger under CD Projekt's supervision, the live-action adaptation will not simply retell the game's story. Instead, it will explore an entirely new narrative set in the rich world of Cyberpunk 2077. The team plans to share further information about the adaptation as the partnership between Anonymous Content and CD Projekt Red progresses.

Earlier, the studio also revealed that the game in question has surpassed 25 million units sold. As stated by CD Projekt's CEO Adam Kiciński during the recent Investor Day presentation, Cyberpunk 2077 achieved this milestone in approximately two years and ten months. In comparison, it took The Witcher 3 around four and a half years to reach the same 25 million mark.
During the same presentation, the team also shared some interesting statistics about the recently released Phantom Liberty expansion for CP2077, reporting that 68% of sales occurred on PC, 20% on PlayStation 5, and 13% on Xbox Series X/S.
