What's to come is not set in stone, at least not in .curator, a freshly announced episodic sci-fi detective thriller written by the Altered Carbon author, Richard K. Morgan.
The teaser trailer released by STRTL, whose developers worked on S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Crysis 2, Syndicate, MotoGP, Warface and Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, offers a cinematic enigma and not much more, but the experience is created entirely from real in-game assets rendered in Unreal Engine.
"Across a myriad different ’braneverse versions of Earth, I have seen Humanity arise, conquer adversity and flourish time after time, only to fail and fall, time after time, wiped out as often as not by its own misguided hand.
"What would you do, what would you give, to stop that final stage, to step in and catch Humanity as it falls? What would you become?"
You play as a Curator who can glimpse possible futures with the help of his AI assistant, C.R.I.S.S.I., and change them. The single-player adventure drops you into a beautiful post-Victorian world, which dynamically reacts to your choices.

Its Steam page offers another interesting glimpse of the game's mechanics: the mix of investigation, stealth, and freedom of choice together with the sleek interface oddly reminds me of Assassin's Creed and parts of Detroit: Become Human.

So when I got invited into the Curator project by this highly talented bunch of guys, a couple of whom I’d already worked with before, I jumped at the chance. What STRTL are offering here is immersion in real storytelling with real consequences, for both the player and the surrounding characters. In a world of ADHD twitch shooters, violent, unremitting gore, and loud, brightly coloured splash and awe, Curator offers something else, something different - a cooler, more thoughtful, more painterly and, ultimately, I think, more humane take on the gaming experience."
