Check Out a Detailed Apache Helicopter Rig Made for an Upcoming Film

The setup reflects how the helicopter's mechanical parts move in real life.

Rassoul Edji, the Founder of Luminairi and former VFX Artist on Hollywood blockbuster movies, has once again teased Luminairi's upcoming movie, showcasing a highly detailed 3D AH-64D Apache helicopter rig made for the project.

According to the artist, the rig was specifically designed to reflect how the mechanical parts move in real life to achieve realistic animations and hold up in close-up shots. Presumably, the rig was set up in Autodesk Maya, the same software Luminairi previously used to rig Hyperion, an imposing 21-foot-tall mech warrior also set to be featured in the movie.

If you would like to learn more about Rassoul and his artistic experience, we highly recommend checking out our 2024 interview with the creator, which offers an in-depth breakdown of his lifelike Samurai character, focusing on how the model's detailed skin and intricate armor were textured in Mari and Substance 3D Painter.
