Developer Fer Factor shared an under-the-hood look at their upcoming game Tossdown.
Indie Game Developer Fer Factor continues working on Tossdown, a high-octane, Crazy-Taxi-meets-Jet-Set-Radio action roguelike with bullet hell elements, offering an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the game.
In the latest demo showcase, Fer Factor demonstrated several methods for handling visual obstructions and ensuring the player character remains visible, even when behind objects. The list of approaches includes highlighting the character, hiding the entire object as if it goes underground, creating a circle around the character to make the small encircled area transparent, and a fan favorite – turning the entire object transparent and replacing it with an outline and a hatching effect. As with the rest of the game, the effects were set up by the developer using the Unity engine.
