Check Out Retro-Futuristic CRT Effect in This Folklore-Inspired Game

Black Raven by L4S Games is a creative mix of a 14th-century mythical story with a pixelated visual style.

The developer of the upcoming hack-and-slash game Black Raven, known on Reddit as looking4strange04, showcased a cool feature of the game's visuals – a retro-inspired CRT effect that can be seen on old-school TVs.

The creator shared that the main inspiration for the effect is the graphics of The Game Kitchen's Blasphemous. To craft the CRT, the developer added scan lines, blur, grain, and RGB misplacement.

Black Raven, developed by L4S Games, is inspired by Slavic folklore and is set in 14th-century Eastern Europe. The game features an engaging narrative, enhanced with a dark soundtrack, and a sword-fighting combat system. Historical and fairytale themes unfold within the eerie 2.5D environments, which include abandoned and haunted battlegrounds, dense forests, and desolate villages. Crafted in a pixelated style, the visuals present an atmospheric and unique blend of styles.

Take a closer look at the game's fascinating world:
