Adventurous Snowboarding Setup Showcased by Ski Game Devs

The creators of SNØ: Ultimate Freeriding showcased a snowboarding visualization.

The developers of a skiing simulator SNØ: Ultimate Freeriding, in which a player can explore visually appealing environments while skiing, unveiled a snowboarding simulation setup.

The devs shared that creating a snowboarding visualization was more complex, as the deformation trail it leaves on the snow is wider, and the cut in the snow smoothly transitions from thin to wide when carving. The creators decided to stop with a custom "trail renderer" that generates a custom mesh based on the orientation of the board and the direction of the velocity.

The tool creates a snow trail, which is no wider than the board when going forward, and seamlessly transitions into a carve that is as wide as the length of the board when the board is oriented 90 degrees to the direction of travel.

There's no Steam page or title for the snowboarding game yet, which seems as beautiful and promising as the well-received skiing one.
