A nice work by AbeOfArabia and his wife.
An animator known as AbeOfArabia presented a fine rig test of a lizard mount sculpted by his wife, Katherine Harris. The artist worked hard to make the neck, feet, and tail move smoothly with manual rigging in Blender.
The rig is not finished yet: for example, the ropes from the saddle clip through the legs, but AbeOfArabia has a solution in mind:
"I'm thinking I would transfer weights onto the ropes so they deform with the body, but only after using auto-weights on some rope-bones. That way, the ropes follow the body like clothes would on a regular character, but you also have the option of pulling them around with a set of bones responsible for animating the reins," he shared.
When the project is done, it will likely be sold as a game asset, so stay tuned and check out his other works on X/Twitter.
