A Reddit user TactirogueDeveloper is working on a FPS roguelike.
Drawing inspiration from the freeflow combat system in the Batman: Arkham series, a Reddit user named TactirogueDeveloper shared a work-in-progress preview of a combat system designed for COLLATERAL, a sci-fi FPS roguelike centered around gun customization and player choice.
While many disagreed with the developer's description of the combat as "fluid", the animation itself is smooth, with transitions and hit connections creating a "paused time" effect similar to martial arts movies or fast-paced anime battles. There's a certain charm to this style of action, especially for fans of roguelikes like Hades, but TactirogueDeveloper shared an updated version of the combat, which is much smoother and feels less disjointed:
