Check Out This Fantasy Mecha Anime Made In Blender & After Effects

See how this tale explores chivalry and sisterhood amidst tradition and legacy in a captivating dynamic 3D visual style and get some behind-the-scenes insights into its production.

This stunning 3D anime pilot film was directed by Kaoru Yoshitake, a former professional animator within the anime industry, who ventured into creating the project of his dreams, utilizing Blender and After Effects in the production.

In the world of Prometic Knight, armored warriors and mechanical birds called Prometheans traverse battlefields, mirroring their mythological prototype by granting people power that can lead to eventual destruction. The protagonist receives the power of a knight on her own, but her older sister, who is a first-class knight, refuses to recognize it because she hasn't followed the formal procedures.

This narrative focuses on themes of chivalry and sisterhood, exploring traditions, family dynamics, and the different paths you take in life.

Kaoru Yoshitake frequently provides development updates and offers some glimpses into behind-the-scenes of this impressive work accomplished by riggers, animators, and modelers.

For instance, despite Prometic Knight's 3D appearance, it often uses 2D materials applied to 3D models to achieve pseudo-3D and anime-style visuals:

"Shaders are important, but I think the best solution for anime-style designs is to add 2D materials and adjust them."

Right now, the team is working on a new entry, promising to introduce more characters:
