A twisted fairytale where The Red goes on a Metroidvania-style adventure to find her grannie is being created.
Indie game developer Pawel recently shared a sneak peek of his latest project, a beautifully animated game featuring a character known as "The Red". The footage reveals The Red happily collecting cookies in a world defined by its charming art style:
Pawel's game, currently under the hashtags #metroidvania and #RedRagingWolf, takes players on a twisted fairytale journey. The protagonist, The Red, embarks on a quest to find her Grannie, promising a story filled with intrigue and adventure.
Although the game is still in its early development stages, with the basic combat system listed as a work in progress, the revealed footage provides a glimpse into the game's artistic direction and character designs.
In addition to The Red, the footage introduces players to Chester, a talkative cat, and showcases battles against pesky ladybugs:
As Pawel mentioned in the tweets, the smooth animation, which is one of the game's standout features, was brought to life using Rive. In case you are not familiar with it, Rive is a real-time interactive design tool that allows developers and designers to create, animate, and integrate graphics across various platforms. It facilitates the creation of detailed animations and designs for apps, games, and websites.
Pawel is working on a few projects at the same time. Another project that he has been working on for the past few years is Witchcrafter: Empire Legends, a systemic, dark fantasy metroidvania RPG whose trailer can be found below. It can be wishlisted on Steam now. Check it out if you think it might be interesting.
