Check Out This RPG That Explores Neapolitan Mythology & Magical Realism
Parthenope from Katabasi Studio is an intricate RPG set in a magic-infused historical Naples.
Katabasi Studio has announced Parthenope, an RPG set in Naples in 1799, with Fortuna Imperatore as Game Director and Francesca Balestri as Art Director. The intricate game draws on such art styles as Tenebrism and Baroque, also influenced by folk horror, and gives off a strong sense of magical realism.
Players will navigate the streets, markets, and catacombs of 18th-century Naples, uncovering the city's mythological roots. The game blends unconventional mechanics such as tarot card readings and dream interpretations with character-building through disguises and charisma. Surviving in Parthenope requires players to fully embrace Neapolitan culture, mastering its traditions and skills to navigate a city that is as dangerous as it is captivating.

The world is populated by figures drawn from Neapolitan tradition, like Munacielli, Janare, and Capere, woven into a narrative described as immersive, dramatic, and eccentric, evoking curiosity and passion.
