Check Out This Sound-based Lockpicking System For Thief-like UE5 Game

A Reddit user presented a WIP of their first-person stealth game inspired by Thief.

This sound-based lockpick mechanic demonstrated by a Game Developer known as IdiotDev for their stealth Unreal Engine 5-powered game will surely catch the Thief series fans' attention.

As you can see in the video, there's no visual feedback except for how many tumblers you've unlocked, the feedback you get on whether your lockpick is in the right position is entirely sound-based. You need to find the point with the highest volume and pitch and then move on to the next tumbler, if you get it wrong, you move back a step.

The developer has a YouTube channel if you want to keep up with any progress made on this game. However, as IdiotDev explained, this is a hobby project and it's unlikely they will be able to make a full game, but a couple of levels should be possible, which will be shared for free on itch.io.
