Jan Bohacek showcased his Massive-inspired prototype.
Years ago, Senior Crowd TD Jan Bohacek developed a similar traffic simulation system in Massive, which he enjoyed greatly. With this experience in mind, he set out to build something similar using Houdini.
As the prototype progressed, the developer noted that the process in Houdini is much more math-intensive than in Massive, which can be intimidating at first. However, the developer believes once you get the hang of it, the possibilities are virtually limitless. The simulation itself is impressively fast, capable of running over 1000 cars in real-time. Additionally, creating the road layout is apparently much simpler: it's even possible to lay out a rough version of Manhattan's road network in just an hour or two. While there are still improvements to be made, like occasional car collisions, the system looks promising.
