Check Out This UE5-Powered FPS Parkour Game

The creator shares vlogs showcasing the development process.

A Reddit user known as Carlcadium showcased a short video depicting their upcoming game combining parkour and shooter, Liquid Lungs, made with Unreal Engine 5. In the video, a character navigates a minimalistic environment of a skyscraper with numerous floors and diverse locations.

The footage features smooth animations and high-quality visualization of the character's complex movements. The creator shared that there were a lot of experiments with visualizing and animating the character and finally, there were three separate meshes: one for the FPS arms, one for the player's lower body, and a third that's hidden from the player but visible in shadows or reflections.

Using a single mesh by attaching the camera to the headbone and offsetting the bone movement relative to the camera didn't work as intended. According to the creator, every approach involved compromises – either the FPS arms or the camera didn't behave properly. Thus, the three-mesh setup was the best solution.
