After two years of development, Andras Ketzer is ready to share updates on his real-time fluid simulation tool.
For those who missed it, FluidNinja LIVE is a real-time fluid simulation tool for Unreal Engine 5 created by Andras Ketzer. Compact and visually organized, it features annotated Blueprints and cross-referenced links, making it ideal for screen-space effects and world-space systems like water bodies, Niagara, foliage, and landscapes.
The developer has now shared a demo of version 2.0, an upgrade to the 1.x series, which is available to current license holders and aims to maintain backward compatibility. He plans to launch a closed alpha in early 2025, with an open beta to follow. In the video above, the simulation queries landscape elevation and flows downhill across the terrain. It's powered by Data Channel particles that interact with meshes using their SDF volume.
The FluidNinja LIVE system has been fully reworked in Niagara. To reach a production-ready state, it requires extensive testing throughout 2025. During the beta phase, version 2.0 will not be available on FAB but will instead be distributed via the dedicated Discord server, similar to the Student Version.
