3D Artist passivestar showcased the node in action.
With Blender 4.3 currently in beta until November 6th, users are actively testing its new features, set to greatly improve art production workflows. This time, 3D Artist and Game Developer Tim Greenberg, known online as passivestar, showcased the updated Gabor Texture Geometry Node in Blender 4.3, which looks promising for quickly creating striking, stylized shapes.
This node has also been optimized with fewer inputs. The Gabor Texture evaluates Gabor noise at the input texture coordinates, visually defined by random interleaved bands whose direction and width can be controlled. Here, passivestar is using a custom Blender productivity-boosting add-on called Quick Menu, which will also receive an update with the release of Blender 4.3:
Recently, passivestar has been sharing a lot of incredible Ucupaint experiments, including this tip for creating game-ready edge wear on any geometry in Blender, and more:
Previously, we shared other cool Blender 4.3 updates, including compositor updates, a new zone that simplifies many node setups and enables new effects, multiple non-destructive Bevel modifiers with separate weights, and custom warnings for Geometry Nodes:
