According to a new report, Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas are getting a remaster. The remaster will be released on many various platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, and it's reportedly due out this Fall. This news was initially released by Kotaku, which reports that it has learned from sources that Rockstar Games is remastering the legendary trilogy and that each game will be remastered using Unreal Engine.
One source who claims to have seen some gameplay footage said that the visuals reminded them of a heavily modded version of a classic GTA title. The UI for the games is being updated too but will retain the same classic style. According to Kotaku, the remastered titles "are trying to stay true to the PS2-era GTA games as much as possible."
The remastered trilogy is due out this Fall, "around late October or early November," according to Kotaku. The trilogy will be released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, PC, Stadia, mobile devices, and on Switch. The PC and mobile ports could be released next year, due to Rockstar's priority to release the remaster on consoles first.
