Clear Angle Studios Acquires DI4D's Technology
Now available as TopoTrack, a new solution for FACS scanning, 4D, and HMC data.
We've been following the work of DI4D, the facial performance capture company, for years and even had the chance to speak with its co-founder and CEO, Colin Urquhart. Earlier this year, Clear Angle Studios, which had previously collaborated with DI4D, announced its acquisition of the company's technology and IP.
Founded in 2003, DI4D has delivered performance capture for iconic film and game franchises such as Call of Duty, Alan Wake, Jurassic World, Love, Death & Robots, and Blade Runner. With this acquisition, DI4D's technology is now integrated into Clear Angle Studios' ecosystem of advanced capture and processing tools, powering TopoTrack with mesh tracking and head asset creation.
TopoTrack
The idea behind TopoTrack is to streamline the workflow from raw mesh to a fully animatable asset, minimizing time-consuming manual cleanup. It preserves capture fidelity, provides a consistent world space, accurately tracks eyes and jaw, and integrates directly with HMC and 4D motion capture systems.
Colin Urquhart will continue working with the Clear Angle Studios team as a Strategic Advisor, helping to guide research and development.
