Co-creator of the Gear of War franchise Cliff Bleszinski has recently expressed his interest in creating a reboot of the series in the style of God of War. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Bleszinski mentioned that he believes Gears of War is ready for a revitalization akin to the success of God of War. This announcement carries significant weight and presents an opportune moment for such a project.
During the interview, Bleszinski openly invited Xbox to reach out to him if they shared his interest in pursuing this endeavor.
"I believe Gears needs a little bit of a reboot, like God of War had, and I've always said, Phil Spencer has my number, I'm happy to consult. Gears will always be near and dear to my heart," shared Bleszinski.
Although Bleszinski has not been involved in the Gears of War series since Gears of War 3, he remains a dedicated fan of the franchise. While he appreciates The Coalition's work on recent Gears of War games, he believes the series is ready for a fresh start. Bleszinski envisions a Gears of War game that embraces a more cinematic approach and places a greater emphasis on storytelling.
It would be interesting to witness Gears of War shift its focus from being solely a horde-like third-person shooter to a game that delves deeper into its narrative. By exploring character development, such as referencing deceased characters, and delving into the psychological struggles faced by survivors in the fog of war, the series could take on a more immersive and engaging experience.

Bleszinski reflects on how his personal struggles influenced his best game creations, such as Gears of War during a troubled marriage and the impact of his parent's death on the storyline. He acknowledges LawBreakers as a good game but recognizes the lack of personal drama affected its memorability.
Currently, Bleszinski focuses on reading books, and comics, and writing graphic novels. While open to a Gears of War film adaptation by Netflix, he emphasizes the importance of respecting the original material, gradually expanding the universe, and staying mindful of the fans.
