Confidential Capcom Document Apparently Confirms Leon in Resident Evil 9

Assuming it's not a hoax, RE9's Leon looks strikingly similar to the man who sold the world.

Long before Resident Evil Requiem, a.k.a. Resident Evil 9, was even announced, rumors were already circulating about Leon Kennedy, one of the franchise's most iconic protagonists, appearing in the game in one way or another, with some believing he would serve as a second protagonist alongside Grace Ashcroft and others claiming he'd appear in a supporting role.

While, as of right now, the developer has yet to officially confirm Leon's presence, a confidential Capcom document that recently appeared online seemingly proves his inclusion, and even more, that he'll sport a look reminiscent of MGS' Big Boss – eyepatch and everything.

According to the screenshot – which I can't share in the article for obvious reasons, but which you can check out over here – initially posted on 4Chan and brought to our attention by Reddit user AnchovyKing, Leon is indeed set to appear in Requiem, with his model showing him as slightly older and more battle-worn compared to his appearance in Resident Evil 6.

Alongside Leon, the document also features a zombified RPD officer and what appears to be a mutated dog with two heads, with the text purportedly reading that the 3D models were demonstrated to showcase RE9's "photorealistic biological models and high-end rendering technology". The full translation was shared by Reddit user Birkin92 and was described by the translator himself as "rough," so take it with a grain of salt.

Here's the translation:

"Our team is dedicated to developing realistic game characters and biological models, focusing on delivering a top-tier survival horror gaming experience. From terrifying creatures to vividly lifelike human characters, our models bring the horror and tension of Resident Evil to life.

The group is committed to pushing realism and immersion in gaming, paving the way for a new chapter in the Resident Evil series.

The team's modeling performance is exceptional, with remarkable detail and lifelike results. Their skill in capturing the essence and horror style of Resident Evil makes them a top production partner or ideal collaborator for future works."

The text in the red box:

"With photorealistic biological models and high-end rendering technology, we've brought Resident Evil's horror atmosphere to life. Every model – whether terrifying creatures or R.P.D. officers – has been meticulously crafted, fully demonstrating our technical strength."

It should go without saying, but the leaked screenshot should by no means be treated as confirmation and could very well be an elaborate hoax made by someone looking to capitalize on the uncertainty around Leon's presence for gits and shiggles. Either way, it looks like we won't have to wait long to find out, with some reports suggesting Leon could be officially confirmed as soon as next week.

So, what do you think of this supposed reveal? Do you believe the screenshot is genuine? What are your thoughts on Leon's new man-who-sold-the-world-esque design? Leave your thoughts down in the comments below!

“Man who sold the world-esque design.” Haha. I’m thinking this is real, and though I’m sad my boy Leon lost an eye, he looks sick.
