Cool Customizable Shadowy Crowd Effect Made in Blender

An interesting result of badbad's experimentations.

A 3D artist known as badbad on X/Twitter shared a curious shadow crowd effect made in Blender, which might remind you of Limbo or Beholder.

The effect can be customized so that people's figures have different colors to make the scene more detailed and in-depth. Here is what it looks like out of the viewport:

Interestingly, the effect appeared by accident: "I just connected a few nodes and it worked, I can't even explain exactly how it works," the artist said.

This is likely part of badbad's college project based on Modern Times by Charlie Chaplin, which you can find on their X/Twitter

You can experiment with the shadows by copying the creator's Blender nodes.
