Game Developer Hannes Rahm, best known for Lone Ruin, has returned from his hiatus on X/Twitter with an impressive showcase: a fully procedurally animated archer guy.
To achieve this, Hannes first animated a few walk cycles using classic 3D techniques. He experimented with animation curves to control and offset the motion of hips, limbs, and more, then translated those movements into math. The result feels surprisingly natural, and the dynamic camera work adds to the overall "juiciness." As the developer shared, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild served as a major source of inspiration for the project.
Hannes is currently working on Ocean Mirror, a unique-looking speedrunning FPS where the ocean's surface acts as a portal to a mirrored dimension, created with Godot Engine as well. See some demos below and wishlist it here:
