Cool Mecha Dragon Spitting Laser Beam Set Up in Blender

It took Emely M. only 3 days.

If you want to hone your 3D skills, Blender52's weekly challenges are what you might want to try. With the recent topic being robots, an artist known as Emely M., a.k.a. Techno Noodle, decided to contribute by creating a cool mecha dragon head that fires lasers instead of traditional flames.

The artist used primitives for the shape and then retopologized above it with a Subdivision modifier. To make the plates, they extruded a subdivided plane and added a Solidify modifier. The motion was set up with IK and bones parented with automatic weights, "except some parts like the head and jaw, which were just directly parented to the bone," Emely shared.

You can find other beautiful scaly creatures of all kinds on the creator's ArtStation.
