Create Character Rigs With This Free Blender Add-on

In this video, you can see how to set a rig for a Spider-Man character using Rig Creator, a beta version add-on by Edward Ureña, which provides a base rig, allowing you to position the bones to match the character's body and automatically apply weights.

While it's still an early version with more features coming in the future, among Rig Creator's recent updates are bone generators with default generators like Def Generator, FK, and Fingers, as well as an IK generator, and an intuitive and efficient list-based Constraint Panel.
