Creating Realistic Ivy Simulation with the Updated Baga Ivy Tool

The Baga Ivy's new Simulation mode allows for animated vines and more.

Meet the new Baga Ivy Simulation & Generator, a Blender add-on created by ArchViz and Add-On Maker Antoine Bagattini, known to many as the creator of BagaPie, and 3D Artist Laura Mercadal. The tool introduces updates to the previous version of the generator, which was first showcased back in 2022.

The add-on features two modes: Simulation and Procedural. The Simulation mode is designed to generate organic animated growth while allowing for defining the direction of the ivy growth. With this mode, you can bake the full simulation in one iteration or refine it step-by-step for complete control.

The mode allows for impressive realism of the visualization while maintaining full artistic control. Also, you can speed up the growth animation, slow it down, or create loops, and preserve wind effects even after converting your ivy to an editable mesh.

The Procedural mode offers three modes: Fast, Accurate, and Precision. The Fast mode is marked by an enhanced performance and might be used for background scenes or covering large areas, as this generator can create a vast amount of ivy. The Accurate mode is the best choice to achieve realism, with the ivy adapting to the surface. The Precision generator allows for improved control and generates complex, non-destructive vegetation in seconds.

The BagaIvy library includes over 300 assets and 70 preset species. Each preset has its own settings, which allows the generator to be as accurate as possible.
