Head Swapper allows using any head, independent of shape, hair style, or skin color.
We've all seen deepfakes before. They produce different results, from funny to pretty scary in their seamlessness. Researchers from Baidu and South China University of Technology took them a step further: their Head Swapper (HeSer) can change not just the face but the whole head.
Head Swapper "achieves few-shot head swapping in the wild through two delicately designed modules." Firstly, a Head2Head Aligner migrates pose and expression information from the target to the source head by examining multi-scale information. Secondly, a Head2Scene Blender modifies facial skin color and fills mismatched gaps in the background around the head.
The creators say that their method produces superior head swapping results in a variety of scenes, and it's hard not to agree even if the output could still use polishing.
The developers are planning to publish the code soon. What would you create if you had access to it?
