The game surpassed 133,000 concurrent players on Steam on its launch day.
We've been hoping, we've been praying, we've been waiting, and the day has finally come – Toby Fox, one of the most influential indie game developers of the past decade, has officially launched Deltarune Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, continuing the adventures of Kris, Susie, and Ralsei.
Bundled with the first and second installments, shipped in 2018 and 2021, respectively, the new chapters are now available as a full-fledged $25 game on PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, marking a shift – an entirely reasonable one – from the free-to-play model of Chapters 1 and 2, which, for the record, are still accessible at no cost in the form of the Deltarune Demo.
Despite the move away from free access, Deltarune exploded across the gaming community on its mid-week launch day, hitting over 133,000 concurrent players on Steam and nearly breaking into 2025's top-10 most-played titles on the platform.
For context, Toby's 2015 hit Undertale peaked at just over 11,000 players, highlighting not only the growth of the gaming community as a whole but also the unwavering dedication of Toby Fox's fanbase, still going strong four years after Deltarune Chapter 2's release. Said dedication is also reflected in Deltarune's Overwhelmingly Positive review score on Steam, with a remarkable 98% positivity rating.
