Destroy Alien Cockroaches in This Doom & Duke Nukem Spiritual Successor

The Last Exterminator has a demo so you can pour all your hatred for insects into it.

There aren't a lot of people who enjoy the company of cockroaches. One look at the creatures will probably make you want to kill them or call a specialist to deal with the nuisance.

In The Last Exterminator, this specialist is you, although you prefer a good old gun to anti-insect chemicals. What makes the experience extra satisfying is the retro atmosphere that will definitely make you think about Doom, Duke Nukem, and Quake – the titles the developers from Ironworks Games were inspired by.

"You play as Kira Parker, a down-on-her-luck exterminator barely making ends meet. When working a job one night, an alien invasion starts tearing apart the city, and in the crossfire they manage to destroy the only thing that Parker had left; her van. With nothing left to lose, she fights her way through the streets to tackle the invasion head-on, and figure out just what the hell is happening in this city."

You will have three episodes of action-packed levels to destroy giant roaches, which remind me of owls with their huge yellow eyes. You have 12 unique weapons, including shotguns, Dual UZIs, and the deadly Demolition Disc to use against 16 enemy types.

The game runs on Ironworks' Mars Engine, offering a range of modding tools and a fully featured in-engine level editor to creative souls. It's a great opportunity to try your hand at making levels and even entire campaigns. The game has many secrets, so don't forget to add your own.

The Last Exterminator is being created in collaboration with Jamesy – a developer who is also busy with a retro game that combines elements of a shooter and a roguelike – all featuring PlayStation 1 graphics.

'A love letter to FPS games from the 90s," The Last Exterminator is not yet released, but you can play its demo on Steam to feel a fraction of what this cockroach-killing simulator will deliver once it's fully out.
