Deus Ex Writer Mary DeMarle Will Work on the Next Mass Effect

The director of the next Mass Effect confirmed that Mary DeMarle is joining BioWare to helm the narrative of his project.

Last week, Mary DeMarle, who previously served as a narrative director for Deus Ex series and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, announced she was joining BioWare as a senior narrative director, although at the time she didn't specify what project she would be working on at the Canadian studio.

Today, the game director of the next Mass Effect, Michael Gamble, took to Twitter to confirm that DeMarle would be helming the narrative of his project.

"I'm really excited to let you know that Mary DeMarle will be joining the Mass Effect team as Senior Narrative Director," he wrote. "You've seen her work in Guardians of the Galaxy & Deus Ex (to name a few!). She's amazing."

BioWare started the development of the as-yet not officially named Mass Effect sequel in April 2022, however, most of the studio's staff is currently busy with Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which is set to be released in 2023.

Unlike Dreadwolf, which is being built on Frostbite, the next Mass Effect is being developed on the Unreal Engine. The game has recently left the pre-production stage and now we can finally wait for an actual release date. However, according to the team, "it’s going to be a while" before the studio can give us any additional details about the game.
