Featuring procedural animations made with Unreal Engine 5.
If you are a fan of Getting Over It and Only Up-style games but have already conquered every peak there is to conquer, here's a cool upcoming game that might pique your interest. Indie Game Developer known as WOODREK has recently shared a brief gameplay demo offering a look at their new 3D platformer, currently known simply as Pogo Game.
As the name suggests, players will navigate the game on a pogo stick, hopping between obstacles while performing stylish twists and somersaults. Still in the early stages of development, Pogo Game is built using Unreal Engine 5's Blueprints and features mechanics based on simulated physics. The animations showcased in the demo are procedural, with the developer noting that they are better at programming than animation.
"The character mechanics are made from scratch with a pawn actor," commented WOODREK. "I redid them about 7-8 times until I reached this result. The physics are great but they are also very glitchy and sometimes it's hard to find a balance."
Additionally, the creator recommended Lusiogenic's YouTube channel to those interested in learning more about simulating physics with Unreal Engine.
As mentioned above, the game is still very early in development, and its Steam page hasn't been created yet. As such, we highly encourage you to follow WOODREK on YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram to stay updated on Pogo Game's progress.
